Sunday, August 16, 2015. Free standing cone fireplaces were first introduced in the 1950s. There were three companies that manufactured them, Malm, Preway and Majestic. Malm is the only one still in business. I love to include these fireplaces in my paintings of mid century interiors, usually with a pet curled up nearby. Here is my most recent effort. These two are from 2012, when I first started interpreting mid century decor. Sunday, July 19, 2015.
My paintings and prints are a contemporary chronicle of mid twentieth centry style in architecture, decor and design for the twenty first century collector. Join me in celebrating this exciting era. The original paintings are done in gouache over acrylic on canvas and are sealed with clear Krylon. The prints are digital and editions limited to 200. I add new works weekly so visit often.
Work exhibiting at Terra Firma Gallery in San Rafael. On July 7, 2011. I began this piece three years ago. I was inspired by a sacred trip I took to canyons of the Sierra Tarahumara in Mexico. The Raramuri are the indigenous peoples that live there. You could peel the layers on this painting like an onion. The first layer is a green color field.
